For the first time, the design, development and manufacture of the GP1 Evo is "Made in Germany". This allows for an even more focused and sustainable approach to delivering the highest quality down to the smallest detail.
The ergonomic concept
Numb fingers, painful hands, or forearm discomfort—common problems that many riders experience. Ergon grips solve these issues and correct the root of the problems.
Improved Pressure Distribution
The pressure point area where the small finger meets the palm often leads to a cross-compression of the Ulnar Nerve. Nerve damage becomes apparent in form of numbness in the little finger and the outer area of the ring finger. In the case of prolonged riding, this can also lead to a limited movement of the entire hand. The answer is precise support in the area of the ball of the thumb and to distribute hand pressure wide on the handlebar.
Hand Position Adjustments
Substantial bending of the wrist can cause the nerves to become pinched or inflammed, eventually leading to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is characterized by a burning pain in the hand or forearm. It can also cause sensory disturbances. Ergon‘s Product Development Team is constantly performing extensive material tests, which far exceed the bike industry‘s quality standards. Over the last few years Ergon has developed and tested more than 50 different grip rubber compounds.
Our new grip material, developed and made in Germany, complies with the highest purity standards and is characterized by its extremely high UV-stability properties. In the bicycle industry, these are unique characteristics on a global scale.

Cork is naturally anti-bacterial, anti-allergic, and therefore especially skin-friendly. It has very good damping properties and due to the low density is very lightweight.
The grip body consists of 40% cork. It comes from biologically certified cork farms in Portugal which follow strict ecological guidelines.
